SEMINAR ON “ENERGY SCENARIO AND PROSPECT OF PETROLEUM & MINING ENGINEERING IN BANGLADESH” HELD AT MIST

Dhaka, 29 July 2017:- Mr Nasrul Hamid , MP, Honourable State Minister, Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources said that innovative power of young engineers will make positive change in power and  energy sector of Bangladesh. The State Minister graced the occasion as chief guest in a seminar titled “Energy Scenario and Prospect of Petroleum and Mining Engineering in Bangladesh” was held at Military Institute of Science and Technology (MIST) today on Saturday (29-7- 2017) in Mirpur Cantonment, Dhaka.

Minister also said that energy is the prime mover of the country’s economic, commercial and social stands. In the year 2021, total electricity demand in Bangladesh will be approximately 20,000 MW. To meet this demand, power sector requires a huge capacity of energy sources which can be supplied substantially from Petroleum and Mining sector. The Minister hoped that the newly acquired sea area might be full of huge amount of natural resources. He also emphasized that our Petroleum & Mining Engineers will contribute their best to exploit and utilize those natural resources in energy sector.

The keynote speeches were delivered by professor Dr. Badrul Imam, Department of Geology, Dhaka University and Engineer Mohammad Hossain, Director General, Power Cell;  Ministry of Power, Energy and Mineral Resources.

Major General Md Abul Khair, ndc, PEng, Commandant, MIST, academicians, professionals, entrepreneurs and other high military and civil officials were also present in the seminar.
