“BANGLADESH ARMY PARTICIPATS “INTERNATIONAL ARMY GAMES 2017”

Dhaka 19 August 2017: For the first time Bangladesh Army has participated in international Army games 2017 held in Kazakhstan from 29 july to 12 august 2017.Bangladesh Army secured 7th position in ‘Sniper Frontier’ discipline among 17 countries

.From Bangladesh Army 13 personnel went to participate in this competition. Among those there were three observers, team manager, team coach and eight participants. Four officers and four other ranks have participated in this competition. The biggest challenge for the team was to adjust with the environment with extreme physical hardship. The competition was arranged with various exercises which demanded extreme physical fitness with high efficiency in firing in different conditions. With overcoming all the difficulties Bangladesh Sniper team have secured 7thposition as state above. In this competition Kazakhstan became 1st, Russia and China combinedly became 2nd .  Among other countries India became 11th, Thailand became 14th and Greece has secured 16th position. The International Army Games was organized mainly to strengthen international military cooperation between the states and to increase the level of sniper’s training. This army games is considered world wide as Army Olympics. Bangladesh Army have performed excellent in this competition considering the first participation is any competition of this nature and upheld the name of the country. By participating in this competition the friendly relationship between Bangladesh and other countries have also developed.W-1

International Army Games – the military Olympics is a new and creative way in promoting military diplomacy between countries in the national security perspective. The main goal of these games is to strengthen international cooperation between the countries, exchange experience in combat training, demonstrate new weapons and train personnel. Sniper Frontier Contests is designed for snipers which is a combination of both firing from varied ranges and different obstacle crossing. The contest took place in Gvardeisky training area,      Otar,     Kazakhstan which is around 200 km from old capital of the country i.e. Almaty. Total 17 countries participated in this competition. These are Russia, Kazakhstan, China, Venezuela, Belarus, Bangladesh, Iran, Azerbaijan, Zimbabwe, Armenia, Uzbekistan, Mongolia, India, Kyrgyzstan, Greece, South Africa and Thailand. The participants have used 7.62 mm dragunov sniper rifle with organic day and night sight, Makarov PM pistol and RGD-5 training grenade. Host country provided all these equipment to the participants.

Mentionable,The army games concept was first developed from the Tank Biathlon hosted by Russia in the year 2013. The Ministry of Defense of Russia have decided to establish the International Army Games idea in 2015, with an intention of inviting and competing with other nations in an Olympics-style war games. This year the third International Army Games – 2017, one of the biggest international military contests in the world, was held from 29July to 12 August 2017 in the territory of 5 countries namely Russia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan and China. Over 150 teams of 28 countries from Europe, Asia, Africa and Latin America participated in the Games in 28 disciplines. The Republic of Kazakhstan hosted three disciplines namely ‘Sniper Frontier’, ‘Masters of Artillery Fire’ and ‘Drone Competition’.
