Dhaka, 19 December 2016: 12th General Meeting of Bangladesh National Authority for Chemical Weapons Convention (BNACWC) was held at Conference Room, Armed Forces Division on Monday (19-12-2016). Chairman, BNACWC and PSO AFD Lieutenant General Md Mahfuzur Rahman, rcds, ndc, afwc, psc, PhD chaired the meeting.
The requirement of preparation of Aggregate National Data (AND) based on the use/production of schedule chemicals and production of Discrete Organic Chemicals (DOC) were discussed in the meeting. To fulfill the obligation of Chemical Weapons Convention (CWC) outlined by Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW), the matters related to chemical hazard, chemical safety and security, launching of enrollment software, incorporating CWC module in the curriculum of Custom Training Academy and Fire Service and Civil Defence, enrollment of chemical factories with National Authority and future activities of the National Authority were discussed in the meeting. Moreover, necessity of preparing National action plan for Assistance and Protection to face any chemical hazard, necessity of purchasing personal protective equipment to impart training for Fire Service and Civil Defence and other stake holders, functionalizing of chemical laboratories at entry point of Custom Houses (land, sea and air) of National Board of Revenue (NBR) were also discussed in the meeting.
